This position lies within Institutional Analytics (IA) a department within University Information Technology Services (UITS).
IA is a new amalgamation of data engineering and decision support talents from across the seven campuses of Indiana University (IU). IA was created to leverage these diverse resources to realize the next generation of institutional research, effectiveness, and data science. This new office reflects the institutional charge to use data and analytics to insure student success at IU. Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborates with campus leadership to assist in the formulation of issues, analysis of trends, and the understanding of outcomes as well as contributes to the strategic planning, evaluation, and development of institutional policy.
- Designs, gathers and analyzes complex statistical educational data, employing a variety of statistical and analytical methodologies and techniques, then disseminates forecast and trend information in a variety of formats to campus administrators and external reporting agencies to support management, planning, assessment and policy development activities.
- Provides analytic support and expertise in research design and methods, surveys, data processing and data presentation to the campus community.
- Works collaboratively with the IA team to delegate and prioritize projects.
- Provides relevant, timely and accurate information to the administration and faculty in support of the decision-making process at the university.
General Responsibilities
- Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
- Provides experienced analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
- Performs experienced analysis to interpret and determine validity and quality of data.
- Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and performs testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools and makes recommendations for implementation to improve data analysis services and approaches.
- Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
- Performs migration and conversion of data as needed in support of analysis efforts.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information science, or related field)
WORK EXPERIENCE

- 2 years of data analysis, reporting, or related experience

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is eligible for remote work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work (1-2 days a week on the campus of employees choice)), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

$58,000-$65,000 annually
