The Department of Revenue has multiple Tax Examiner I - Title Processing openings in the Motor Vehicle Division’s Title Processing Unit. If you are enthusiastic about providing top notch customer service while digging into the details of issues to find the right solution, we want to hear from you!
The Tax Examiner 1 plays a vital role in assisting customers via the in-person service window, phone, and email. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Answering inquiries and addressing customer issues
- Balancing daily cash drawer with accuracy
- Using independent judgment to perform clerical duties as assigned
Entry Qualifications
Associate degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or related area (Business, Business Administration, Management, etc.) from an accredited college or university
~ OR one year of related experience
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a customer facing environment processing monies and balancing daily cash drawers
- Experience explaining information or service eligibility requirements to the general public
- Customer Service: Ability to appropriately address internal & external customer issues while respecting business needs
- Judgment and Decision Making: Ability to use proper judgment in selecting which issues to handle or re-direct
- Ability to spot errors in documents and follow up in a timely manner
- Results Orientation: Ability to meet deadlines and achieve performance goals, while focused on efficient & effective problem resolution
- Teamwork and Cooperation: Ability to promote the team atmosphere and work well with co-workers & leadership
- Accountability: Ability to accept responsibility for one’s actions with honesty and integrity, while maintaining credibility and remaining committed to organizational success
- Ability to verify calculations and other mathematical/financial information
Preferred Qualifications
- Production-driven data entry
- Contact center experience
Position Status & Pay Grade: Unclassified – Pay Grade F
Hiring Range: $27,519.63 - $36,200

- This vacancy requires office hours of 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. A telework option is contingent upon demonstrated proficiency after training and is subject to change based on DOR policies and ability to meet performance expectations.
