The Emerging Nutrition group is a dedicated team committed to cultivating the future of alternative grains and plant-based ingredients. As a member of an Emerging Nutrition team, the Sustainable Agriculture Specialist is responsible for exploration, development and support of the Ardent Mills ESG Agriculture Sustainability Program aligned with Ardent Mills’ Vision, Mission, Values and Strategy. The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will collaborate across the business to execute the ESG Strategy, develop new markets and build customer and grower relationships.


The Role


The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will support leadership engagement and solutions development for the Ardent Mills ESG Agriculture Sustainability Program. This role reports to the Emerging Nutrition General Manager and will play a significant role in supporting the Ardent Mills Regenerative Agriculture program and relationship building with key internal and external customers and third-party program providers. The Sustainable Agriculture Manager will be responsible for working directly with program participants to advance on-farm continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on greenhouse gas reduction, soil health and water quality. As one of the leaders driving growth in this space, this individual, in collaboration with ESG and Emerging Nutrition Leadership, will actively participate in strategy and business planning as it pertains to the Ardent Mills ESG Regenerative Agriculture program.


Key Accountabilities


  • Collaborate with farmers, suppliers and customers to drive sustainability goals, objectives, and strategies; creates and implements plans for related projects.
  • Collect the necessary data to deliver customer presentations and reports which communicate sustainability initiative, KPIs and metrics. Highlighting their effectiveness and environmental impact.
  • Assist and provide leadership in the development and implementation of on-farm Ardent Mills Regenerative Agriculture programs which support farming practices that help increase organic matter content, nutrient density and water infiltration.
  • Identify grower partners for the Ardent Mills Regenerative Agriculture program and as needed, assist ESG Manager with on-farm visits, phone calls, data collection and connections with technical support.
  • Collaborate with ESG and Emerging Nutrition Leadership to provide content for marketing resources, including brochures or online media, to promote sustainability practices, procedures and objectives.
  • Actively represent Ardent Mills across the industry by facilitating and fostering existing and new relationships with supply chain partners, 3rd party project providers, local and state agencies across the sustainability and agriculture sector.
  • Support Ardent Mills ESG Agricultural Initiatives.
  • As needed, takes a leading role in the development and implementation of sustainability focused identity preserved (IP) programs designed to meet specific customer requirements and value identification; interacting with ESG, Sales and Risk teams to define success.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of yearly grower events, trainings and customer visits.


Skills And Experience


  • Prefer five years' experience in Agriculture Production, working with Ag Retailers and/or Agronomists.
  • Experience using software applications i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated skill in organization, planning, listening and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diverse internal and external customer base.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Business, Agronomy, Sustainable Agriculture., Sustainability, or related field.

  • Ardent Mills is headquartered in Denver, CO. This role can be remote/hybrid. The successful candidate will be expected to commit to periodic presence in the Denver HQ office, the frequency of which is open to discussion with the hiring manager.

COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION:


We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $71,700.00 - $95,603.20, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - MIP, 5% Annual.
