We are building a team that will help our users launch sustainability programs, benchmark their ESG performance, measure carbon emissions, set meaningful goals, execute reduction strategies, and ultimately share their progress with key stakeholders.


Job description:


Sustain.Life is looking for a Sustainability Director with deep technical knowledge and applied experience in key areas of corporate sustainability, with the following focus:


  • Stakeholder engagement and double materiality assessments
  • Sustainability reporting (at minimum GRI, SASB/ISSB, TCFD, CDP, and NFRD/CSRD)
  • Science-based targets (especially sectoral)
  • Climate risk assessments and a solid understanding of climate scenario analysis and climate transition planning.
  • Greenhouse gas emissions accounting (GHGP)
  • Decarbonization strategy and project execution
  • Supply chain sustainability program implementation


Additional areas of expertise helpful to this position include:


  • An understanding of the social and governance landscape, including human and labor rights and DEIB
  • Social and environmental compliance
  • Internal audits/external assurance for GHG emissions and sustainability data.


The ideal candidate would have built and/or managed comprehensive sustainability programs in SMEs or MNCs for at least 10 years. International and cross-industry experience is highly preferred. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise and practical know-how to conceptualize software tools and features for the real world. Our goal is to automate and simplify sustainability data management, provide models, analytics and general insights to facilitate decision-making and ultimately guide companies towards meaningful actions. This position works closely across functions like Product, Design, Engineering, Commercial and Content and manages the sustainability team's feature roadmap. This role will report directly to the CSO and has at least two direct reports. Previous experience as a successful people manager is required.


Desired qualifications for this role:


  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Master's degree or higher preferred
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Familiarity with the MS 365 suite, Power BI and Azure DevOps is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Reporting designation or evidence of previous work on sustainability reporting
  • Familiarity with leading sustainability standards, frameworks, disclosure systems, and certifications
  • Highly organized
  • 7-10+ years' experience in a sustainability leadership role with at least 2 years as a people manager
  • Tech savvy and business acumen
  • Understanding of sustainability practices and requirements in international markets
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, e.g., sustainability, environmental management, environmental analytics, environmental informatics


Base Salary: $125,000 - $160,000


The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including determined position level, individual experience within the salary band and business objectives. Our base salary is just one component of Sustain.Life's competitive total compensation package that also includes an Employee Stock Purchase Plan as well as other region-specific health and retirement benefits.
