Surgery Scheduler - Richmond OBGYN - St. Mary's - Richmond, VA

PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary function of this position is to act as receptionist for the Radiology Department, providing varied clerical services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Obtain and accurately perform record specific information concerning each posted case; notify appropriate staff members of special needs for any case.
• Is accountable for processing charges, routing charging information to data processing, and reordering and logging implants.
• Schedules surgical cases to provide efficient operation of the Surgical Services Department.
• Enter appropriate data from OR record into the computer system, do audit checks and run period reports.
• Works with minimal supervision.
• Participates as a team member by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job description when workload requires and as requested by systems coordinator.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in healthcare required.
• Graduate from a Junior College. High School graduate, two years of college considered.
• Good working knowledge of medical terminology.
• One year computer experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in surgery scheduling preferred.
• Must be able to type 50 words per minute with accuracy.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Clear, distinct diction and audio acuity is essential for communicating with physicians, visitors and co-workers.

WORK SHIFT:

• 40 Hours - Full Time Days
