Job Description

Role: Support Engineer

Duration: 6 to 12+Months

Location: Universal City, CA (3 days onsite)

Summary:

The Application Engineer’s role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes testing, analyzing, and supporting software programs and applications. The Application Engineer will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle.

The Application Engineer will serve as a key contact with the user community for solving business issues and for designing, developing, and implementing new business initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other UPR IT teams as needed to support the business requirements.
  • Provide regular status reporting.
  • Provide support for various hardware and software upgrades.
  • Develop detailed test plans & conduct system testing.
  • Define and manage small projects, timelines, deliverables, and communication with the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Analyze and document existing software solutions.
  • Provide a system support role for day-to-day systems operations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience supporting a large POS application.
  • 2-4 years of work experience in an IT support function
  • Bachelor’s degree required from a four-year college or university is required; majors in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and or work weekends with short notice; Support during non-business hours as needed.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Hospitality industry experience preferred.
  • Extensive relational database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Excellent understanding of SQL database and query best practices. Including triggers, stored procedures, SQL jobs, SSIS, and reporting using SSRS
  • Results oriented with a history of problem resolution and prevention.
  • Windows Server 2008-2016 Administration Experience (review and troubleshoot logs, patching, access control, user access reviews, and IIS)
  • Experience with IT Service Management Tools (ServiceNow or Jira)
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Effectively handle sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Strong technical/analytical skills
