This person will be responsible for ensuring Food Safety guidelines and practices are met at Vertical Cold.

Essential Functions:*

• Supervise staff’s effectiveness in inspections to ensure adherence to customer specifications and food safety regulations.
• Ensure HACCP program is in place and processes are followed.
• Either personally or through delegation ensure all quality control processes are met; report deviations and corrective actions to General Manager and Corporate Safety Manager.
• Inspect product and lines including taking temperatures, weights and performing tests (such as swab for microbes).
• Accurately record results of inspections and tests in appropriate logs.
• Inform Management of any deviations from expected norms.
• Meet attendance requirements.
• Demonstrate a safe working environment by following and ensuring safety rules and regulations are followed.
• Other duties may be assigned as business necessitates.
• Actively train, mentor, and supervise direct and indirect labor as appropriate.
• Support a food safe working environment by complying with SOP procedures, rules and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Prepare and participate for food safety audits including AIB
• Meet with customers.
• Support USDA in inspections as requested.
• Visually inspect product, personnel and line for adherence to Food Safety requirements.
• Ensure USDA procedures followed.
• Calibrate equipment as needed and according to procedure

Required Skills:*

• Prior food safety audit experience including AIB or Siliker
• Familiarity with statistical control process
• SQF or BRC experience preferred.
• Strong familiarity with computer software required.
• Ability to read, write and verbally communicate effectively.
• HACCP and Food Safety and Defense Action planning preferred
• Strong knowledge of food borne pathogens and mitigation techniques

Education and Experience:*

• 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control function required; preferably in a Meat Processing facility
• High school diploma or GED required; additional Food Safety coursework preferred
• 2-3 years of prior Supervisory experience required

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

Work Location: In person
