Job Description

Position Summary

The Supervisor, Inflight leads, develops and maintains strategic relationships with JetBlue Crewmembers, internal departments, and Business Partners. The Supervisor serves Inflight Crewmembers through timely coaching and mentoring, ultimately contributing to successful development, which will ensure successful customer interactions. The Supervisor will collaborate and partner closely with Manager(s) in the execution of operational strategy while upholding safety standards.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional service to both internal and external Customers by leading and overseeing the delivery of hospitality and JetBlue Promises which are in-line with the high expectations Customers have for JetBlue
  • Able to strategically identify operational challenges and implement improvements to maximize and ensure success of on-time performance initiatives
  • Supports and coaches Inflight Crewmembers, encourages engagement, and takes a significant role in their development and growth achievement through effective performance management and ongoing constructive formal and informal feedback
  • Maintains Crewmember electronic files, and prepares written reports as necessary, including handling investigations of Customer/Crewmember incidents, On the Job Injuries, and documentation of follow-up/resolution
  • Provides compliance assistance and guidance to ensure Inflight Crewmembers’ adherence to safety and regulatory requirements
  • Educates Inflight Crewmembers on overall Company Business strategy and decisions, as well as coaches and supports them in meeting Departmental ancillary revenue goals through their execution of onboard product sales, onboard advertising, and promotional initiatives
  • Provides Gate/Onboard Support to our Inflight Crewmembers by conducting Crew briefings, Crew debriefing following emergency/abnormal situations and verifies Inflight Crewmembers are present at report time
  • Develops and implements corrective action plans based on Crewmember performance, as well as necessary separation decisions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Directs and guides Inflight Crewmembers through Operational issues while coordinating efforts with colleagues in Airports, Business Partners, and all other applicable stakeholders throughout the operation in order to ensure effective day-to-day collaboration and accountability


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (30%)
  • Three (3) years customer service, sales, or airline experience, OR one (1) year JetBlue CEX experience
  • One (1) year leadership or Supervision experience, preferably in the Airline industry
  • Currently in possession of a U.S. passport or foreign passport with applicable visas to freely enter and exit, without restrictions, to all JetBlue destinations. All passport holders should have a minimum of 12 months validity remaining at the time of application.
  • Knowledge of basic computer and electronic tablet devices
  • Ability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English
  • Able to reach six feet three inches (6’3”) without shoes
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Travel documents must remain valid throughout all phases of training and employment
  • Able to work varying schedules including reserve duty, weekends, evenings, holidays, and last-minute drafting
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds from the floor to above the shoulders
  • Able to work as a team to deliver the JetBlue Experience
  • Must be able to adhere to JetBlue Inflight Crewmember Uniform Appearance Standards
  • Able to read and comprehend guidance as found in required manuals


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • At least twenty (20) years old
  • Must have the ability to walk comfortably down the aircraft aisle while facing forward, fit quickly through the over wing exit, and sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat without modification
  • Vision corrected to 20/20
  • Successfully complete JetBlue Airways Inflight Training Program, including Initial Training and Annual Continuous Education Programs
  • Two (2) years leadership or Supervision experience, preferably in the Airline industry
  • Experience working on company projects or initiatives in the airline industry
  • Experience leading flight attendants in another airline


Crewmember Expectations

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Upholding JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Organizational fit for the JetBlue culture; exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice


Work Environment

  • Shift work, support operations 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
  • Irregular operations occasionally cause extended workdays
  • Shared workspace, cubicle, aircraft, fast-paced environment

Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. (Medium)
  • Ability to push and pull in excess of 250 pounds (Heavy).


Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $63,000 and $66,000 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
