At United, we fly into airports around the entire world. And we need a whole team of people to keep things running in tip-top shape! From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day.
The salary for this position is $51,700 - $64,900 dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.
United offers all it’s airport employees based at SFO Airport free medical coverage. This includes medical coverage for employees and their qualified families members such as spouses, domestic partners, and children at no cost. Coverage is in a gold level, high quality medical plan. Employees also have access to dental coverage where United pays 80% of the cost! In addition to medical and dental coverage, United also provides life and accident insurance and employees can enroll in additional coverages such as vision coverage, long-term disability, critical illness, and hospital insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations as appropriate into performance, safety, (damages and injuries), complaints and other work issues
- Partner with vendor supervisor staff to define and address performance impacting shared goals and service delivery to United's customers
- Identify issues and engage in structured problem solving to assist front-line employees in accomplishing work
- Complete all required regulatory and Company required documentation of activities
- Engage with front-line employees to review metrics and gain their commitment to act in accordance with Company guidelines and union agreements to help achieve goals
- Provide technical guidance and interpret company guidelines and procedures and/or union agreements to assist front-line employees in performing functional tasks and ensure that safety, security, and service are delivered consistently
- Provide front-line employees with regular mentoring, feedback, and recognition as appropriate
- Serve as a subject matter expert on safety, service, and procedures
- Ensure consistency on operational service and product delivery
- Provide leadership and oversight of a work area and front-line employees in an operational environment
- Assess and delegate the appropriate work assignments to front-line employees
- Supervise the performance of a team and work area, acting as vital to ensure daily operational goals are met
- Focus on leading and developing the skills of front-line employees with the goal of delivering consistent and excellent customer service and delivering a quality product in accordance with Company guidelines
- Support standard work and continuous improvement processes
- Participate in collateral projects

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Strong sense of ownership, understands operations and how to translate knowledge to business goals
- Decision making with an ability to lead
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- High School Diploma, GED, or education equivalent
- Customer Focus
- Must be flexible and willing to work any shift in a 24/hour/7 day a week operation including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Experience leading and influencing a team and customer service experience
- Proficient in IT systems and common software appropriate to work group
- Planning/multi-tasking
- Continuous improvement
- Safety orientation
- Conflict resolution, accountability, teamwork, engagement/motivation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working in Airport Operations, including Customer Service
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience leading Union personnel a plus
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant job experience will be equally considered
