Supervisor - Airport Maintenance

Position Purpose

The Airport Maintenance Supervisor oversees, leads, and supervises the crews and crew leaders performing cleaning, maintenance, care, and repair of airport grounds, facilities, and surrounding areas according to FAA regulations.

Airport Maintenance Supervisor- Supervises a small to medium sized operational unit of non-exempt employees. The functional activities are somewhat complex and have moderate impact on overall operations. This level supervises employees in trade, or technical functions that provide services to persons inside or outside the organization. The substance of the positions is non-routine and is semi-skilled or skilled in nature and has a direct impact on the work, office operations, projects, or programs of others in the organization. Supervises the daily operation of clerical/administrative or installation/maintenance crews. Work time will be spent performing the type of work supervised.

Essential Functions

• Conducts quality inspections, supervises ongoing projects, and ensures all parts are available to perform maintenance operations, and occasionally operate heavy and small equipment.
• Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
• Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction; handles hazardous or dangerous situations with professionalism and efficiency.
• Attends various meetings to discuss airport and terminal needs and to address issues or concerns; communicates with facilities staff to resolve heating, cooling, or ventilation concerns.
• Performs a wide range of clerical and administrative functions for the crews performing maintenance and related work for the department; documents and tracks inspection work, general projects, accident or injury reports, and inventory management reports; assists with bidding and cost estimating, schedule development, and the documentation required following environmental spills and other emergencies.
• Provides on the job training and leadership to ensure quality of maintenance work; assists with time cards and general time keeping and delegates assignments as needed; attends and participates in various professional development opportunities and encourages training and other development for staff.
• Supervises, administers, and manages the airport maintenance daily tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and according to regulations; monitors closely all work done on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Processes and approves all employee and personnel related requests; manages timecards, delegates work assignments, and assists in the resolution of personnel issues or concerns; addresses performance deficiencies and recommends disciplinary actions; evaluates general performance and recommends awards, promotions, or other accolades.

Education

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE:

• Plumbing
• HVAC
• Custodial
• Carpentry
• Three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance or building trades which must have included one or more of the following:
• Electrical

AND

• One (1) year of supervisory or lead-work experience. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)

EQUIVALENCIES:

• An associate’s degree or higher in aviation management plus one ( 1 ) year of the required experience including one (1) year of the stated supervisory or leadwork responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

LICENSES and/or CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid Class C Driver's License

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must pass FAA and TSA background check.
• May be subject to twenty-four/seven (24/7) emergency call outs (days, evenings, nights) including weekends, holidays.

• Works will little or no supervision.
• Works well in a fast pace environment.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner.
