Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Superintendent to manage our landscaping operations. The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing a team of landscaping professionals and ensuring that our outdoor spaces are maintained to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and supervise the work of landscaping personnel, including maintenance, irrigation, and hardscape crews.


  • Develop and implement plans for landscape design and maintenance, including planting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and pest management, when needed.


  • Manage landscape construction projects, including the installation of new plantings, hardscapes, and irrigation systems.


  • Maintain accurate records of all landscaping activities, including budgets, expenses, and labor costs.


  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors.


  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies and procedures.


  • Train and develop landscaping staff to ensure high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.


  • Manage equipment and supplies inventory, including the maintenance and repair of equipment.


  • Coordinate with other departments and contractors as needed to ensure timely completion of projects.


  • Conduct regular inspections and walkthroughs with crew to ensure landscaped areas are well-maintained and meet the highest standards.


Qualifications

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in landscape management, including crew supervision and project management.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for landscaping operations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture, landscape design, and construction techniques.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and blueprints.


Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and resolve issues that arise during landscaping projects is crucial. The Superintendent should be able to develop and implement effective solutions while maintaining a positive attitude.


  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is important in landscaping to ensure that every aspect of the project is completed to the highest standard.


  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the landscaping industry is necessary to ensure the safety of team members and clients.


  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer software programs such as CAD, Excel and Project Management software is helpful for planning and executing landscaping projects efficiently.


  • Time Management: The Superintendent should have the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.


  • Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service is important for the Superintendent to maintain positive relationships with clients and ensure customer satisfaction.
