Job Duties

Position serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the facility on all matters relative to public safety, inmates, personnel, volunteers, programs, security and other activities. Responsible for the establishment and implementation of objectives, formulation and interpretation of policies and procedures in accordance with Division requirements, and evaluation of all institutional programs. Provides a satisfying and rewarding work environment for all employees, free from intimidation, sexual harassment and discrimination.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Considerable progressive experience within the Department of Corrections. Knowledge of corrections policies and procedures. Knowledge of criminal justice coupled with demonstrated human relations skills, communication skills, analytical skills and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to make responsible, honest, fair and consistent decisions and the ability to remain impartial in dealing with staff and inmates. Ability to adapt to changes that may occur.


Additional Considerations

An equivalent combination of education, training, knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute in lieu of educational requirements. Knowledge of correctional best practices and evidence-based practices.
