Position Summary:

Make an impact in Minnesota this summer and supporting efforts to mitigate climate change and build climate resilience. As a Climate Resilience Fellow, you’ll serve at a local nonprofit or government agency and assist with implementing environmental programs and initiatives. You’ll also complete a leadership development program designed to develop the next generation of climate leaders.

We are currently recruiting for summer 2023 with opportunities beginning in May and June. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Summer Impact Corps, and your commitment will be up to 40 hours per week. Join a movement dedicated to leadership through service and get things done for Minnesota!

What to Expect:
  • Share your experience with the wider community as a Summer Impact Corps ambassador.
  • Advance the environmental, social, and economic wellbeing of communities through projects focused on decarbonization, economic savings, community resilience, and environmental justice.
  • Commit to continuous improvement through training, professional development and participation in the climate leadership development program.
  • Lead and assist with climate change education programs and outreach.
Perks Package:

Serve as a Fellow up to 40 hours per week and receive a perks package that includes:

  • Up to $1,374 for tuition or student loans*
  • Child care assistance — Based on family size and income
  • A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks
    • $6,600 total for 300 hours
  • Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
  • $6,600 total for 300 hours
  • Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered
  • The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child, or stepchild.
What it Takes:

Climate Resilience Fellows come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community — and meet the following minimum qualifications.

By the time they begin their service, our members are:

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), conducting internet searches, navigating online resources, and utilizing other software like databases, email and video conferencing
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
  • Dependable with a good history of attendance
  • Able to understand and follow instructions
  • Able to successfully complete a background check
  • 17 years of age or older by two weeks prior to your start date
  • Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
