Job Description
Summary
This is a supervisory/working position assisting the department Director in the supervision of the operations of the maintenance, recreation and athletic services for the City of Clinton Parks and Recreation Department. The central focus is in the Athletics services and Maintenance divisions within the Parks and Recreation Department. Will serve as liaison between sports associations, league officials and Parks Department for various athletic programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
50.00% - ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following.
Actively assists in preparing and managing the Department budget in all Maintenance, Recreation and Sports areas including personnel, supplies, services, and capital.
Aides in problem solving among the staff and the public.
Recommends and assists in the development of the Policy and Procedures of the Department and monitors the adherence to set policies.
Directs and manages all subordinates in the daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal delivery of services in Maintenance operations and tasks.
Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of facilities, parks, grounds, and athletic facility maintenance.
Assists in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Maintenance, Recreation and Sports programming including website, social media, and other online applications.
Sets plans and programming for athletic fields and facility maintenance in accordance with Department and staff standards.
Knowledgeable in chemicals, pesticides, playground safety, sports field construction, building and grounds maintenance.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Manages full-time Park and Recreation Maintenance personnel. Assists in the management of professional employees, including recreation, maintenance and office personnel, as well as seasonal employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Qualifications - QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty adequately. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: A graduate of an accredited four year university or college with a degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related fields, Master Degree preferred; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses and Registration: Eligible for certification in Sports Turf
Management, Sports Field Management, Recreation Sports Specialist and/or Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred; possess or certifiable for commercial pesticide and chemicals within one year. First-aid/CPR/AED certifications desired. Possession of a valid MS Driver"s License and/or Commercial B License preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, reports and ledgers. Ability to communicate and respond to inquiries, complaints, and concerns from citizens. Ability to speak in public and to present information to volunteer groups, city council, and special interest groups.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; ability to discount and use percentages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out detailed instructions; ability to deal with and solve problems of employees and customers.
Other Skills: Knowledge and ability to develop and interpret specifications of athletic, recreational, and maintenance operations equipment and or facilities.
