Job Description

Introduction


The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) is recruiting to fill a full-time Substance Use Prevention Program Coordinator position within the Bureau of Prevention Treatment and Recovery (BPTR). BPTR promotes overall wellness through the management and support of community mental health and substance use services for people of all ages and backgrounds.

This is a hybrid position that offers the option to work remotely up to 3 days per week with the other 2 days in the office and may be headquartered at one of the many regional office buildings throughout the state. Specific location will be discussed further if presented with a job offer.

Position Summary


As Substance Use Prevention Program Coordinator, you will manage substance abuse prevention services and funding. Duties include:

  • Overseeing and monitoring substance abuse prevention services to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding the Comprehensive State Plan, state-wide prevention collaboration, and local administration of services.
  • Regularly attending and participating in committee and work groups related to prevention activities.
  • Coordinating and leading the design, development, implementation, evaluation and resources of a service delivery model encompassing substance abuse prevention services within rural and urban counties throughout Wisconsin. Focus includes analysis of current programs, best practice models, quality assurance reviews and development of evidence-based evaluation procedures.
  • Assisting in preparation of contracts for the implementation of services at the local level applying all state and federal requirements.
  • Assessing the design, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of existing and emerging resources/services aimed at the statewide prevention of misuse or abuse of substances among Wisconsin’s population.
  • Facilitating substance abuse prevention service conferences, training and meetings and providing training and technical assistance to general community as requested.

Salary Information


Pay is between $33.50 and $38.50 per hour (approximately between $69,600 and $80,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current of former employees is based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Human Services Program Coordinator – Senior and is in pay schedule/range 07/03.

Job Details

  • Employees must have access to secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee’s headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience with substance use prevention, intervention, or recovery services.
  • Experience organizing, coordinating, or facilitating substance use and misuse prevention conferences or trainings, or providing technical assistance on prevention topics to providers or community members.
  • Experience participating in work groups or committees related to prevention activities with internal and external stakeholders.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with behavioral health program development, public health initiatives, or community coalition leadership.
  • Experience monitoring, developing, or administering contracts or grants (e.g., writing requests for bid/proposal, monitoring or evaluating performance, ensuring compliance, implementing corrective actions, etc.)
