Right now, our Olympia, WA store is hiring a Full Time Store Manager In Training!

Salary: $21.63 Per Hour

Position Summary: Responsible for learning and participating in the overall store operation, including collections, processing sales, personnel management, financial performance and loss control activities. Objective is to acquire knowledge and skills needed to be capable of performing the Managers job at any Tacoma Goodwill location at the conclusion of the training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Store Manager in Training responsibilities includes the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Effectively and efficiently manage the store budget including maintaining payroll budgets, generating revenue and controlling expenses.
  • Report loss prevention matters to the LP team so that cases are reported and investigated accurately and within Goodwill's LP guidelines.
  • Be available for special projects, at the discretion of the Regional Managers, at any location within the Tacoma Goodwill system.
  • Follow and enforce proper operation of security and safety systems including, but not limited to: door locks, alarms, bank deposits, refunds, safe, incident reports, fire extinguishers and cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure proper cash handling including cash register procedures and submission of required reports.
  • Oversee the proper handling and processing of incoming and outgoing donations: on-site donations, processed goods, salvage goods if applicable, and waste.
  • Maintain appearance of building exterior and parking lot, including but not limited to: sidewalks, parking lot and exterior lights, dumpster area, landscape, stray shopping carts and store entry and signage.
  • Maintain sales floor and store appearance, cleanliness and shopping/working environment. Included but not limited to: floors, fitting rooms, cash register and customer service areas, aisles, lights, restrooms, showcases, windows and door glass, and odor control.

Customer Service

Ensure that quality customer service is presented and provided by employees in a timely and courteous manner to all shoppers, donors and other employees.

Full Cycle Hiring

Be active in interviewing, onboarding, and training of new employees by following Goodwill's processes for ensuring that hiring and training are done correctly and thoroughly.

Manage Store Sales Performance

Maximize sales performance through proper rotation, display/presentation, signage, and inventory levels. Meet or exceed sales goals on a consistent basis.

Requirements:

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of three years related experience and/or training in a retail environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and concensus
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets. Ability to create and manage departmental budget.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel and PowerPoint.

Other Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Store Manager in Training.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid First-Aid card which meets OSHA and WISHA standards (may be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Other Qualifications: Self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach; and ability to build effective working relationships.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
