Job Summary


The new Minnesota Veterans Home-Montevideo is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023! The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is seeking an individual to join our team as a Staffing Coordinator to prepare and maintain biweekly work schedules of nursing and housekeeping staff.

This position:

  • Tracks and maintains information changes in the scheduling and timekeeping software system.
  • Supports new employee orientation specifically in the areas of scheduling, timekeeping and coordination of education requirements.
  • Tracks, compiles, analyzes and reports on a variety of data related to scheduling and attendance.
  • Acts as a liaison between staff and their supervisor by fielding questions, concerns and issues and providing resolution to the extent possible.
  • Provides administrative support to the nursing and housekeeping departments specifically in the areas of scheduling, coordination of work assignments, and tracking of data.
  • Independently administers staff scheduling and work assignments within the parameters of the collective bargaining agreements and State and Federal regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Skills in:

  • Customer service (in person, on the phone and through email and other written correspondence) sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate scheduling and staffing-level information to employees, supervisors and managers.
  • Communication sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, supervisors and managers about nursing schedules.
  • Using spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel, sufficient to produce and maintain reports on nursing activity and employee data.
  • Keyboarding/typing and word processing, using Microsoft Word or similar software to produce forms, reports and general correspondence.
  • Database management sufficient to enter, maintain, update, and retrieve information from a staffing/scheduling system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience producing employee work schedules.
  • Experience using an electronic scheduling/staffing software system.
  • Skills in applying provisions of collective bargaining agreements.
