Job Description
This role is responsible for the support of production and non-production Windows servers from a systems administration perspective.
Location: 100% Remote
Position Type: Full time employee
Major Duties:
  • Support existing server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call capacity as part of a team rotation
  • Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance
  • Administration and support of the MS Exchange Office 365 environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain backup systems including monitoring backup jobs to ensure jobs are completed successfully, managing data retention and storage, adding new devices and hosts to the backup system and processing restore/recovery requests.
  • Maintain system security.
  • Interact with infrastructure engineering team members to improve standards and support procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with peer employees and senior management.
  • Respond to escalated incidents and provide Windows system administration subject matter expertise to resolve associated incidents.
  • Administer, maintain and support the Active Directory environment.
  • Recommend and implement changes to existing Windows (hardware and OS) infrastructure including patches, users, drives, registry settings, etc.
  • Document operating and deployment procedures for other team members to follow.
  • Perform assigned duties independently with moderate management oversight.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and OS problems (including performance tuning) and provide root cause analysis in a continual improvement model.
  • Administer the virtual infrastructure including creating new VMs and templates, adding new VLANs and storage.
  • Oversee key operational projects from a system administration perspective such as OS upgrades, storage array migrations, etc.
  • Perform hardware and OS capacity planning for existing applications, providing recommendations to application owners and implementing solutions to allow for application and database expansion and performance.
Preferred Education:
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or Computer Science) or equivalent IT work experience
Required Skills:
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM, DPM, and PowerShell
  • Expert in designing, deploying, administering, troubleshooting, and tuning Windows systems in a medium to large enterprise environment.
  • Creative, self-motivated team player
  • Excellent oral/written communication and inter-personal skills
  • 5-7 years' experience as a Windows systems administrator with 24x7 on-call rotation responsibilities
  • Basic networking skills
  • Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server in standalone and clustered modes with Microsoft Cluster
  • Experience with SMBV1 - SMBV3
  • Experience with VMWare/Xen/KVM/OVM/Hyper-V
  • Experience with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
  • Windows vs 2012 - 2019
  • Experience in administering Windows servers attached to enterprise-level storage arrays (EMC, Hitachi, HP, etc)
  • Experience with cloud computing
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities.
Additional Skills:
  • Experience with System Center Orchestrator
  • Windows 2019
  • Experience with SQL Server and MS Cluster from and SA perspective
  • Integration with Oracle Products
