Motorola Solutions Connectivity NG9-1-1 Routing Services is a portfolio of products and services that deliver the critical elements needed to enable and operate a Next Generation 9-1-1 Core Services (NGCS) solution. The call and multimedia routing subsystem technology is known as VESTA® Router. VESTA® Router is responsible for receiving incoming emergency calls, voice, SMS, and multimedia, in a NENA i3 SIP format from the originating service provider (OSP). The VESTA® NG9-1-1 Call Routing Service is specifically designed and engineered to provide a scalable solution that accommodates both legacy and Next Generation call routing.
The NGCS Systems Integration (SI) team is responsible for the customer-specific design elements, solution configuration, integration planning, delivery, and performance testing of sold services. This team is measured upon their ability to achieve the design requirements within budget, on time, and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contractual commitment made with the customer. The NGCS SI team is comprised of Network Consultants, Field Engineering, Network Engineering and Project Management teams focused on the delivery of the VESTA® NG9-1-1 Routing Services.
Network Engineer (NE) is responsible for the implementation of Motorola Solutions Connectivity NG9-1-1 Routing Services products and services that deliver the critical elements needed to enable and operate a Next Generation 9-1-1 Core Services (NGCS) solution. Prepare detailed specifications and documentation from high-level designs Plans. Researches, evaluates, designs and deploys network systems compatible system infrastructure, and in line with organization strategies. Designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementations.
Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections.
Identify technical risks of the projects and work with the PM on mitigation plans. Identify customer expectation mismatch and develop mitigation plans. Technical counterpart with Network Consultants in vendor, customer, and internal facing meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Motorola Program Manager (PM) to provide a smooth transition from project implementation to NGCS Operations and service delivery.
- Responsible for identifying, investigating and troubleshooting of technical issues during project implementation
- Support end to end readiness, with emphasis on Emergency Service IP Network interconnectivity with customer networks.
- Responsible for self development through an agreed training plan, experience and knowledge transfer.
- Become Integration Specialist of customer Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) networks.
- Manage and/or perform implementation of communication system solutions and services which satisfy the requirements of the customer, end user and operator
- Responsible for the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of networks comprising firewall, switch, and routing functions.
- Update of technical documentation and technical change management
- Deliver contractual scope, and provide value alternatives when requirements cannot be met.
- Interface, communicate, and coordinate the customer, partner, sub-contractor on project deployment and best practices where required.
- Assist Project Management in developing and managing costs and schedules by identifying technical risks to the deployment plan and suggesting mitigation options for those risks.
- Lead test coordination efforts, readiness and completion reviews.
- Directly engage Development and Lab teams to align with project scope.
Qualifications:
- Must be a self motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives.
- Experience at a Public Safety technology supplier or direct Government Public Safety role is highly valued.
- Next Generation 9-1-1 Industry Awareness (NENA, APCO, etc.). Can identify industry and market trends
- Understanding of communication protocols, client server architectures, computer networking technologies, & network security solutions.
- Experience supporting complex end-to-end network solutions in a Mission Critical environment, including fault tolerant, high availability, and redundant implementations.
- Awareness of Motorola Solutions Connectivity Products and Services
- Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) or vendor equivalent.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) or higher certification desired.
- Excellent knowledge in Operating System and Application (Unix, Window, Virtualization Technology etc) desired.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunications with an emphasis on Public Safety is desired.
- This is a home based role but can be located in an office when available
- Produce transparent written and verbal communications.
- Excellent knowledge in IP Network (Switch, Router, Firewall etc)
- Ability to understand and articulate details associated with customer networks.
- Strong problem solving skills, analytical abilities and ability to deliver on time.
- In depth knowledge of networking protocols, system calls, TCP/IP stack, and OSI model.
- In depth understanding of practical experience in complex network security concepts.
- Ability to travel at times 25-50% of the time
- At least 5 years of professional engineering experience in Telecommunication System, IP Transport Network, IT, Field Service, Technical Support or those equivalent.
- Computer skills (I.e. MS Office suite, Google applications, Smartsheets, etc..) Must be comfortable using hosted applications, and collaboration tools.
