Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineering team, part of the Site Operations group, is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the various production processes within General Dynamics OTS (GD-OTS), San Diego. GD-OTS San Diego develops and manufactures high precision motors, resolvers, motion control systems for various commercial and military applications. As a member of the GD-OTS Manufacturing Engineering team the candidate will drive continuous improvements efforts focused on production efficiency, quality, and safety as well provide technical assistance to manufacturing operators and technicians. The GD-OTS Manufacturing Engineering team has an opportunity for an individual with experience in high precision machining and grinding operations.

Major Position Responsibilities:

• Key Stake holder of assigned production work cell (PFMEA owner)
• Identify and implement cost reduction plans on an ongoing basis.
• Develop, implement, and maintain production processes promoting Standard Work
• Support labor & material analysis for program Estimate to Complete (ETC) and proposals
• Design and support fabrication of manufacturing tooling/fixtures/jigs for use in machining and grinding operations
• Participate in Continuous Improvement projects throughout facility
• Drive product and process corrective action initiatives arising from production and field use non-conformances
• Support manufacturing at Material Review Board (MRB) in determining material disposition and determine root cause and recommend corrective action
• Define and monitor production cell KPIs such as Machine Uptime and Change Over Time
• Support GD-OTS San Diego product development initiatives providing DFM insight
• Develop, implement, and maintain task and operation specific work instructions, ensuring manufacturing baseline strategies as well as customer specific requirements are being met
• Analyze and recommend course of action to address production efficiency initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience using CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
• Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
• Knowledge and application of Lean and Six Sigma highly desired.
• Bacherlor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or in related field.
• Knowledge/experience with ERP system (IFS, SAP, or equivalent)
• Experience with Microsoft Office products
• Must be organized and detail oriented.
• Experienced reading material and process specifications, engineering drawings, technical reports, manuals, and work instructions
• Understanding of machining and grinding equipment programming requirements and capabilities
• 3-8 years of experience or training preferably in a similar type of manufacturing environment. Minimum 3 years experience in a production environment with machining and grinding operations and industry best practices.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish a strong plus.

Pay Range (USD): $100,176.94 - $150,265.42 Additional Compensation: Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.
