IBISWorld is a global company with offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, Frankfurt and Melbourne. We are the world’s leading publisher of business research. Our success has created abundant opportunity and we’re looking for the best and brightest to join us as we continue to expand our operations.

Our mission is to be the premier provider of high value-added information to the largest and most influential enterprises in the nations where we operate. We do this while maintaining a culture where people are passionate about their work and are surrounded by like-minded, intelligent achievers.

The Role

IBISWorld is a leader in market intelligence and our team provides detailed analyses of thousands of industries across the globe. We are looking for a creative and attentive Senior Editor to join our team and help elevate our content to the next level, forging a stronger connection between our research and its audience.

As a key member of our department, your role would be to ensure the consistency of our content and identify areas for improvement in both our products and how they are created. In this role, you will maintain the core department duties of conducting reviews, ensuring consistency of content and copy editing while also working to identify areas for improvement in products and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Other duties and projects as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Proofread and process a high volume of market intelligence reports according to set guidelines using proprietary content-management and workflow programs
  • Train new analysts on editorial expectations and report writing guidelines
  • Work with other editors to refine styles, systems, guidelines and more; help update department manuals and guides as needed
  • Support Research Team Leads and Analysts as needed or directed by manager
  • Address and resolve writing, logic, grammar and style issues in reports in a timely manner
  • Query analysts regarding errors in report or issues with writing
  • Assist with screening and hiring new editors
  • Work with the Research department and individual analysts to improve and refine their writing styles and techniques
  • Identify areas of improvement in quality review processes and overall content creation
  • Identify need for and lead writing/editorial workshops
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of analysts’ reports, making detailed edits and suggestions
  • Complete more complex media or marketing projects (writing, editing or design)
  • Meet with individual analysts who require additional help to improve writing
  • Mentor and help train new editors

Key Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize various responsibilities and deadlines
  • Strong editorial judgement
  • Flexibility to effectively deal with unexpected assignments and changes to workload based on management priorities or client requests
  • Ability to help connect the content with the audience
  • Comfortable identifying and troubleshooting technical problems
  • In-depth knowledge of standard English spelling and grammar
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or Communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Beginning to intermediate knowledge of economic concepts
  • Works well with others, but also self-motivating and autonomous
  • 3+ years of business writing experience
  • Adept attention to detail
  • Experience with Grammarly or other copy-editing tools/programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation: 60K
