Job Description

Job Summary

The Sr. Coordinator, Career Education will play a key support role on the Career and Alumni Engagement (CAE) team at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Our unit’s mission is to help students and alumni thrive and engage in lifelong personal growth, professional development, and career exploration.


In partnership with CAE teammates, the this role will support job search and advancement services for our 1,000+ HGSE students and 25,000+ HGSE alumni. Among other initiatives, the Sr. Coordinator will support projects related to job searching and acquisition, student-alumni networking, and internships in partnership with Degree Programs faculty and staff as well as Alumni Engagement colleagues. Specific responsibilities include:

Position Description

Coaching and Career Advancement Support

  • May provide weekly career coaching appointments to students and alumni
  • Manage site-related tasks related to the HGSE internship course (S-997), including but not limited to tracking internship sites, supervisors, and completed learning contracts
  • Maintain the Career Decision Making module
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director for Career Education and in coordination with the Degree Programs team, provide administrative support for lifelong career development initiatives including but not limited to supporting events and digital resources


Degree Program Partnership and Events

  • Serve as administrative Point of Contact for designated HGSE degree programs
  • Provide administrative support for CAE events, including but not limited to overseeing registrations, budget tracking, etc
  • With the Associate Director, work with HGSE student organizations to understand their career needs and propose opportunities to enhance current CSO offerings


Communication

  • Oversee career education event registration and post-event evaluation processes
  • Update and maintain the alumni-facing Career Development Center on the HGSE website
  • Post events, resources, and internships on the HGSE Hub
  • Under the general direction of the Associate Director, draft and send communications to students and alumni that are relevant, accurate, and concise

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of related experience. This position may be required to work overtime, including some nights and weekends during peak times of the academic year.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior work in higher education a plus, particularly in career services or other student affairs roles. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders with a commitment to equity and inclusion. Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to outstanding service. Willingness to provide ground-level support as needed, including at night and/or on weekends during busy periods.¿
