Job Description

Position Purpose
The Sr. Accountant (SA) performs complex accounting functions including fiscal interpretation and analysis requiring full professional competency. The SA performs specialized and routine accounting transactions, and prepares analysis, reports, schedules, and reconciliations, including disbursement of organization funds. The SA coordinates the preparation of financial statements, maintains accounting and fiscal control records and procedures, including internal audit procedures, and the main focus on loan accounting.

The Team
Craft3’s finance team is responsible for all accounting, financial management, IT Services and compliance activities, as well as fundraising and investor relations. We manage our Community Impact Investment Note, open to accredited investors, and oversee grant applications and philanthropic partnerships. A nimble team, we draw on our experience in banking, regulatory compliance, debt capital markets, community development, and grant management to help Craft3 manage risk and make informed decisions. Accounting and Reporting

  • Prepare flux and variance explanations as part of the monthly close process for all areas assigned.
  • Manage intercompany accounts and month-end confirmations across all entities.
  • Lead 1099 and vendor filing (including invoices and W-9s).
  • Initiate periodic disbursements and/or reports for leases, rent, contracts, loans serviced and others.
  • Perform month-end closing activities including preparation of journal entries and analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and record monthly accruals.
  • Maintain pre-paid expenses, notes payable, and fixed asset schedules in a timely manner.
  • Ad hoc financial projects and analysis as needed and assigned by Controller and CFO.
  • Oversee the execution month-end close deliverables such as being responsible for driving the necessary financial rigor in process, templates, and inputs that allow for a successful, accurate, and efficient process.
  • Assist with annual external audit, including preparation of audit request items and schedules.
  • Update monthly financial reports.
  • Assist with monthly use tax filings.
  • Management of Participations and Serviced Loans.
  • Prepare and maintain fixed asset schedule and depreciation.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Identify, implement and support improvements to gain efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Assist Accounts Payable activities for proper approvals, invoice capture, expense allocations and ensuring timely payment of vendors.
  • Manage, file, and pay federal and/or state taxes in accordance with an established schedule.

Analysis, Systems, and Workflow

  • Manage the expense reporting cycle and review reports for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policy.
  • Analyze business trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to

  • Gain and maintain a working knowledge of the systems that support accounting for our business.
  • Continue to focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.

Relationship

  • Liaise with other departments to analyze expenses.
  • Collaborate with different functional teams to continue to develop accounting processes and actively contribute to a disciplined financial statement close.

Enterprise Risk Management & Systems

  • Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment by following established policies and procedures.
  • Report all emerging problem loans to management when weaknesses are detected.

Cross Team Support / Development

  • Finance Data Management Backup.
  • Participate fully with all members of the Craft3 team.
  • Collaborate with other Craft3 business units to streamline systems and processes.
  • Act as backup for Accounts Payable, Fund Accounting, or financial statements.
  • Assist in creating or delivering training to new staff members as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the body of knowledge, sharing best practices and suggest process improvement ideas.

Culture and Brand Management

  • Demonstrate stewardship for the Craft3 Brand.
  • Support the organization's All Team performance standards, Companywide Competencies.
