Sql Database Administrator Contractor

Our client is seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join their team. As a Senior SQL DBA, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our SQL Server databases hosted on the Azure platform. This is a remote contracting position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities:
Manage and optimize SQL Server databases hosted on Azure (PaaS) to ensure high performance, scalability, and availability.
Implement and maintain database security, including data encryption, access controls, and auditing.
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize queries and database structures for optimal performance.
Collaborate with development teams to design, develop, and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and functions.
Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance in Azure (PaaS) and SQL best practices.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and replication.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in SQL Server and Azure (PaaS) to propose and implement innovative solutions.
Requirements:
Extensive experience as a SQL Server DBA, with a strong focus on performance optimization and troubleshooting.
Deep knowledge of Azure (PaaS) and hands-on experience managing SQL Server databases on the Azure platform.
Proficient in SQL programming, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
Strong understanding of database security concepts and best practices.
Experience mentoring junior team members and providing technical guidance in Azure (PaaS) and SQL Server.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve database-related issues.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
Effective communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft certifications in SQL Server or Azure (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server, Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
Experience with other cloud platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform, is a bonus.
