Job Description

Title: Sports Data Scientist (AI/ML Knowledge Required)

Workplace Type: Remote

Employee Location: New York, NY or United States or Canada. East Coast Preferred.


Company Description:

Our engineering team at SportsCapital is developing a salary cap database for predicting market outcomes in professional sports leagues.


Position Description:

Seeking a data scientist to join our NHL-focused research & development department. You will learn about the business of professional sports, Salary Cap/CBA, and entrepreneurship in the process. Team members will be compensated with minority equity.


Scope of Work:

  • Create models and frameworks to efficiently scale internal processes
  • Develop data models using artificial intelligence and identify actionable insights
  • Support software engineers to execute the product roadmap
  • Keep informed about critical issues relevant to business operations in the major professional sports leagues (NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB, and European Soccer)


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Passionate about sports and entrepreneurship
  • Highly skilled in SQL, Python, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
  • Mamba mentality. Be a hustler. No quit.
  • A few years of professional experience preferred
  • Nice to have: Google Analytics and Big Query
