Description


The Activation Team is seeking a Special Events Coordinator to help support special events and programs throughout Montgomery County including concerts, festivals, races, community events, fun runs and walks, art performances, and other programming. We are seeking candidates that are enthusiastic about events and outdoor programs to join our team.


The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a six-time National Recreational and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner.   • Identifies, hires, coordinates, and contracts with various entertainers and performance groups.
  • Coordinates appropriate permits, licenses, and approvals during event planning process
  • Assists with planning, coordination and implementation of events and programs.
  • Manages special projects as assigned
  • Assists with logistics for events including site supervision, staffing and volunteers.
  • Serve as liaison between community groups, performers, vendors, etc.,
  • Assists with establishing marketing needs
  • Routes contracts, creates purchase orders and processes payments
  • Manages charges and expenditures related to programming
  • Assist in preparing event budgets
Minimum Qualifications


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience planning special events, programs and classes
  • Bilingual/Multilingual a plus
  • Experience with special events equipment
  • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of special events
  • Previous customer service experience.


Working Conditions


  • Tolerance for working in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, humidity, and cold.
  • Ability to walk at least half a mile and up and down moderate hills without difficulty.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for at least two hours at a time.
