The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) has an exciting opportunity for an Events Coordinator to support the Deans Administration, Office of Student Affairs. The successful candidate for this position will be able to describe and demonstrate their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness as well as how they contribute to a respectful, positive workplace. * * PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide professional and administrative support to department, campus center, or school events. Coordinate day-to-day operations of events or meetings for department, school, or campus center. * Annual events in the Office of Student Affairs include: Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Open Houses, Graduation. Additionally, will support Career Navigation, Admissions, and student organizations which host multiple events a semester. * May be responsible for facility logistic aspects of events or meetings, including set-up and tear down, seating arrangements, technical, and atmosphere. * Provide professional and administrative support to the Office of Student Affairs by checking email, completing routine forms, answering phones, and greeting student walk-in traffic. * Generate proposals, contracts and other documents to secure business for all services related to an assigned event(s), such as facility, caterer, printers, or speakers. Collect appropriate information from attendees. * Provides general professional and administrative duties to support events and troubleshooting issues that arise throughout the event. Assess outcomes and make appropriate recommendations. * Assist in preparation of promotional and informational items. * May supervise staff and/or volunteers and ensures the efficient recruitment/ interviewing and training. * Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION:Bachelor’s in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field. EXPERIENCE:Two (2) years of experience in event or meeting management, fundraising or development, public, or client relations. OTHER:Related experience may be substituted for education. Clery Act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
