Overview:

Responsible for the purchasing, preparation, and production of food for patient and retail meal services including cooks, bakery, salads, and catering areas. Leads staff to ensure meals are properly prepared and plated for service. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

• Certification/Registration: Serve Safe Manager Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer and maintained.
• Ability to read, write, and problem solve.
• Experience: 4 years cooking experience in an upscale or corporate environment.
• Working conditions, mental and physical requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods. Must be able to work stations in kitchen, dish room, and pot room. Ability to lift 30 pounds and to push and pull 150 pounds.Equipment used: Dish machine, pot machine, all food service equipment, computer, pos system.
• Preferred Education: Two Year Associate's Degree
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Other skills & knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities): Skills, knowledge and abilities:
  • Must be able to reason well and use basic math skills.
  • Positive, proactive attitude.
  • Ability to read, write, and problem solve.
  • Maintain special diets knowledge of Nutrition.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Professional appearance.
  • Basic computer skills.

• Preferred Experience: At least one year supervisory experience preferred.
• Maintain special diets knowledge of Nutrition.
