Job Description

This role is located in NYC - and requires 1-3 days a week in the Soho office in NYC.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a producer who will be responsible for telling our story, primarily via video, to our educator and administrator audiences on our social media channels.

Reporting to the Director, Social Media Content (Educator and Administrator Audiences), the Senior Social Media Video Producer will create and curate engaging content in line with our overall social media unification strategy and content calendar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce and edit videos fit for the unique strengths and capabilities of each social media platform.
  • Listen to stakeholder needs and manage expectations.
  • Conduct photo, video, and audio research to complement each video.
  • Manage production schedules, and workflows, from footage ingest to final delivery.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability of initiatives, ensuring satisfied internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Scholastic teams who are instrumental to the experience we provide to our audiences on social media:
  • Collaborate with other editorial and video teams at Scholastic to help shape video concepts.
  • Work with team members to develop narratives, storyboards, and shot lists.
  • Collaborate with the Search and Media Paid Planning team to drive the interplay between paid and social media.
  • Participate in planning sessions for new content ideas and campaigns.
  • Engage with our lines of business to create engaging videos that highlight the benefits of our programs and offerings:
  • Successfully manage numerous projects, with overlapping deadlines.
  • Utilize and maintain our tools for content management, tagging, digital asset management, and project task calendaring.
  • Iterate on the content calendar in a responsive fashion.
  • Select and manage outside specialist videographers, photographers, animators, motion designers, and agencies etc.
  • Repurpose video created in other formats and edit them so they are fit for social media.
  • Secure locations, permits, logistics and project crew and serve as the primary point of contact on the project.
  • Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Explain design decisions and the capabilities and limits of video on social media channels.
  • Manage social media video projects:
  • Support the content calendar creation in partnership with each line of business:
  • Create production budgets based on resource availability and project specifications.
  • Coach and mentor staff in videography techniques, skills, and processes.
  • Work closely with partners and support functions to leverage social video to address specific emerging needs.
  • Establish a visual style for Scholastic video on social media that reflects the needs of our audiences and adheres to our brand guidelines.
  • Deliver training, best practices, and tools to our internal stakeholders ensuring we are continuously improving while social media evolves.
  • Establish trust and confidence of business partners and interact with them without oversight.
  • Align with other subject matter experts across the company.
  • Leverage data and insights in concepting.
  • Set-up, film, and conduct video shoots.
  • Create engaging short-form videos for social media:
  • Be well-versed and attuned to the business models, opportunities, and best practices of social media platforms and modern brands. And help develop Scholastic’s overall social media competencies:
  • Promote a culture of learning and development.
  • Utilize compositing skills and a strong sense of design to craft compelling narratives using stock footage and interviews.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT - Qualifications

  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations.
  • Experience creating engaging video content on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok.
  • Experience managing freelancers and vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Ability to set-up gear, film, and direct simple video shoots.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to be kind, flexible, and adaptive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: professional experience in the education sector
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, exceptional multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Technical understanding of pre-production, production, post-production process and workflows.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a video editor in social media.
  • Proficient in media production software (e.g. Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience with color correction, audio mixing, and motion graphics.
  • Lover of books and reading.
  • A portfolio of high-quality, engaging video work.
