Description

BorrowLenses (part of the Shutterfly family of brands) is where professional photographers and videographers come to rent premium gear online. They fulfill the photographic and cinematic dreams of our customers by delivering superior, cutting-edge gear and providing exceptional customer service.
Our Video VIP Technician acts as a production's prep-tech and AC, setting up and testing customer orders before they ship and troubleshooting issues along the way. The position requires keen attention to detail, a cool-under-pressure demeanor and knowledge of high-end video gear and on-set production workflows.
The Video VIP Technician will work with a team of video customer service personnel as well as cross functionally with all internal departments to meet the needs of the client and equipment.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Quality Control: Accurately prepare and sort high volume rental orders in a timely fashion. This includes the following,
o Properly navigate and test functionality in advanced camera systems such as RED, Arri, Sony, and Blackmagic cameras.
o Test lenses such as Zeiss CP lenses for any back or front focusing problems.
o Assemble and test camera systems with all support equipment such as Gimbal's, sliders, Glidecams, and Tripods.
o Test audio recorders, video monitors, and memory cards, to ensure all functionalities are working properly.
o Test lighting equipment functionality, this includes all types of Constant Lighting as well as Strobe Lighting.
o Ensure all equipment is packaged properly back into their cases (if applicable) for customers.
  • Assess customer needs based on their rental and provide relevant solutions

  • Assist our Customer Service team by providing equipment solutions and/or operational knowledge of equipment

  • Maintain the order & cleanliness of the camera warehouse and prep station

  • Assist walk-in customers with equipment recommendations and demonstrate equipment usage and operation

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure customer receives a best-in-class rental

  • Other duties as they develop

The Skills You'll Bring:
  • Ability to learn an adapt quickly to new technology and processes

  • Candidate has 1-2 years of on-set production experience

  • Working Knowledge of video, audio and lighting equipment required.

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral; Ability to effectively explain video technical issues and concepts in simple, understandable language

  • Fast learner, results driven and always seeking opportunities for process improvement

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in a video/film production or related field is required

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast pace environment along with cross functional teams
