Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

Cloud Logistics – under Capacity, Supply Chain and Provisioning (CSCP) – is on a mission to create the most sustainable, efficient and innovative cloud logistics network on the planet.

As the Sustainable Logistics Packaging Project Manager, you will be a central team member responsible for driving our sustainable transportation packaging program to reduce waste from Cloud Logistics’ global areas of operations in line with our Zero Waste by 2030 commitments and 2025 interim goals. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the enterprise and supply chain to implement best-in-class waste mitigation strategies and lead projects to reduce packaging waste from the Cloud Supply Chain.

This opportunity will allow you to translate your Project Management skills into sustainability impacts, partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify industry leading solutions for packaging sustainability and be part of an award-winning supply chain team that is dedicated to innovation as a key driver of business value. This position requires extensive multi-stakeholder coordination, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop and apply compelling data-driven insights to sustainable transport packaging initiatives. This role will directly contribute to Microsoft’s zero waste commitment.

Responsibilities

As the Sustainable Logistics Packaging Project Manager :
  • You will lead implementations associated with the Cloud Logistics’ Sustainable Packaging program and organize and coordinate with our internal Cloud stakeholders.
  • You will demonstrate creativity and curiosity in exploring opportunities to introduce new technologies and contribute to long-term strategy by conducting analyses. You’ll develop technical knowledge that can be applied to identify opportunities for improvement with minimal guidance.
  • You will support the enabling and onboarding of new sustainable logistics projects, such as sustainable packaging, leveraging data to prioritize areas of high-impact.
  • Create and execute a framework for cultivating and evaluating related procurement opportunities for sustainable transportation packaging.
  • You will develop and refine new and existing roadmaps to drive adoption of sustainable transportation packaging initiatives across the supply chain.
  • Develop and represent sustainable transportation packaging in key internal contexts, including but not limited to zero waste targets, and internal reporting.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND 8+ years experience in supply chain or logistics
o OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualfications:
  • Track record of driving results through deep and resourceful collaboration
  • Experience in impact evaluation methodologies and frameworks
  • Experience working in a large matrixed organization
  • Growth mindset with problem solving skills, including keen data insights
  • Experience working with sustainability professionals
  • 1+ year(s) experience in sustainability project management
  • Experience in implementing sustainable packaging at a global scale
  • Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Experience in greenhouse gas emissions AND waste accounting/reporting
  • Advanced degree in business/MBA, economics, sustainability, environmental science, or equivalent experience
  • Procurement experience onboarding new vendors/suppliers
Fulfillment & Logistics IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.
