Job Description
Are you ready to advance the State of Humanity in the pursuit of Human Knowledge?  Quantum Space is leading the next commercial space frontier with the development of our lunar constellation to provide data buy services, host payloads/instruments, deploy spacecraft, and perform space logistics for our partners.  
We’re looking for a lead systems engineer for our upcoming cislunar missions who is highly motivated with the expertise to formulate, design interfaces, architect, and evaluate performance within complex existing, as well as newly designed, space systems. In this role you will work closely with project management and will be responsible for leading the technical team through the project life cycle including launch and early operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
  • Lead informal and formal system architecture, requirements, functional, design, mission ready reviews, including development of entrance and success criteria
  • Generate, review, approve, and manage system/subsystem requirements — including but not limited to, safety, design, environmental, manufacturing, quality, operational, and testing requirements  
  • Develop verification and validation plans, as well as requirement compliance matrices
  • Lead project engineer and technical authority of either entire mission, spacecraft, or payloads.
  • Initiate and execute test plans, test procedures and test reports
  • Perform fault tolerance analysis/failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis
  • Translate security and system requirements into hardware and/or software specifications
  • Develop and implement systems engineering management plan and update as required throughout
  • Evaluate alternatives including cost, risk, supportability, and analyses for total systems
  • Define and manage the configuration management process 
  • Serve as project technical point of contact and cost account manager
  • Direct team of engineers through the project lifecycle through launch and early operations
  • Ensure the system solutions are flight ready prior to test and mission operations  
  • Create integration, verification, and validation tests
  • Manage technical risks, cross functional issues, and mitigation actions  
  • Prepare, review, approve, and manage subsystem interfaces interactions within interface control documents — including but not limited to physical, thermal, electric, RF, data interactions
Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commercial, industry, and U.S. federal government systems engineering standards
  • Work location within the DMV arena
  • Experience leading an interdisciplinary technical team in the delivery of spaceflight hardware and or software
  • Requirements and risk management tools and processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM technical discipline
  • Experience working with spacecraft, payloads, space to earth architectures, and on-orbit mission operations
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with systems analysis, modeling, and design tools
  • Proficiency in at least one engineering discipline and or spacecraft subsystem
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience leading a large interdisciplinary technical team in the delivery of spaceflight hardware and or software
  • Master’s degree in a STEM technical discipline
  • Experience leading flight hardware failure review investigations
  • Extensive end to end project life cycle experience working with spacecraft, payloads, space to earth architectures, and on-orbit mission operations.
  • Proficiency in more than one engineering discipline and or spacecraft subsystem
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
