Job Description

ARM Solar Partners, a subsidiary of ARM Group Enterprises Inc., is seeking a Senior Project Manager for its growing solar design-build business within the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for oversight, coordination, and successful execution of assigned ground-mount and rooftop solar projects ranging in size from about 500MW to 3MW.


The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, negotiating, and administering risk-mitigating contracts, directing engineering, permitting, and construction, and delivering successful projects on budget and on schedule. Expanding ARM’s relationships with installation subcontractors and equipment suppliers will be vital to the success of this position.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain well documented files to accurately present a clear trail with regards to contract templates, approvals, executed contracts, and pending contracts.
  • Manage and coordinate the development, design, permitting, and construction of multiple solar projects simultaneously.
  • Provide guidance & input to the project team for all construction issues or changes that will affect the scope, schedule, or budget of the construction contracts or the design-build contract.
  • Supports implementation of the Project Inspection and Test Plan and QA/QC manual.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
  • Be an Environmental Champion – ensure environmental issues are prioritized with resources and are resolved or mitigated immediately.
  • Be a Safety Champion – Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety initiatives, programs, and regulations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with the client for construction issues to be resolved at the site level.
  • Report the contract status, budget and schedule status with project teams and management on a regular basis.
  • Be a Quality Champion – Ensure implementation of the plan and ensure subcontractors comply with the project Quality Control Plan.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and direction to all personnel (construction, commissioning, etc.) assigned to the project and ensure SOP’s are adhered to.
  • Manage the implementation of project commissioning and testing plan, monitor compliance, and communicate to key stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and conduct premobilization meetings for all subcontractors.
  • Oversee and manage the various general conditions services required for design-build projects.
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes for issuing and managing various agreements.
  • Manage the implementation of field materials management procedures, monitors compliance, and communicates to key stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership & direction to the Superintendents and Field Specialists.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships and ensures client issues are resolved or appropriately escalated as needed.
  • Promote the ARM Group people strategy and CARE, MODEL, COACH leadership philosophy, instilling a culture of caring and collaboration, high performance, quality, ownership, and accountability.
  • Manage subcontract administration to include RFP preparation, proposal review and analysis, subcontractor prequalification, negotiation/execution of subcontracts, submitting change orders and closing out contracts after the substantial completion of projects.
  • Develop and manage complicated schedules, project timelines, staffing plans, material coordination to complete projects on schedule and within budget guidelines. Understand the major commercial, scope, and deliverable terms of the Prime Contract and construction.
  • Track and report monthly contracts completion metrics and status of pending contracts.
  • Lead the site team to be proactive in looking ahead of the subcontractors. Discourage work practices that result in reactive behavior. Support proactive work habits.
  • Engage with subcontractors to analyze work plans, work methods, and progress. Ensure ARM Group is identifying risks and opportunities in a timely manner to support the critical path schedule and contract requirements.
  • Facilitate negotiations/contract formation activities and actively facilitate the discussions with potential services providers.
  • Advise on any substantive deviations from terms and conditions to legal counsel and ARM Group President.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervisory responsibilities for subcontractor project superintendents, project managers, and project administrators.
  • Matrix supervisory responsibility for project team members including engineering, quality, safety, and commissioning personnel.


Base Requirements:

  • Organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate employees.
  • Great attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and specifications, contract documents, and critical path schedule.
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, and other industry-specific software.
  • Experience implementing quality control/quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills: articulate, assertive, and confident.
  • Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to analyze project scenarios and implement site-specific design modifications.
  • 10+ years of field experience, at least 5 years as Project Manager; previous solar experience is highly preferred.
  • Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and on budget.
