As a Senior Linux Engineer, you will specialize in creating solutions that improve automation and efficiencies across all internal teams. You will be expected to drive automation, operational excellence, and support our customer facing applications and infrastructure.

As a Senior Linux Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems
• Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues
• Improving our system monitoring and analysis platform to speed error detection and remediation, enhancing performance and reliability
• Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standards
• Providing support and mentorship for other Linux engineers within the department
• Providing support, leadership and motivation for project teams

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Possess expert level experience in a DevOps, Development, or SysAdmin role and experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Possess informed opinions on technology and software design to bring to the table
• Possess excellent communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skills
• 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience
• Have experience with architecting software and infrastructure at scale
• Able to work in alignment with strategic business initiatives and coordinate and guide the work of other engineers

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $113,430 - $170,043/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
