Linux Administrator Jobs

Join the fast-growing team of an artificial intelligence and technology company in Foster City, CA as their hybrid remote Linux Administrator. The Linux Administrator will work in office three days per week and two days remote.

This role will be part of the Endpoint Engineering team which responsible for managing physical and virtual endpoints at scale to ensure employees have productive, secure and reliable endpoints. This role will play a key role in assisting with developing and implementing a new, secure management system to support up to 2,000 Linux desktop machines.

Linux Administrator Responsibilities:

• Understand and anticipate business needs and address issues reported by customers.
• Perform system administration tasks across thousands of Linux hosts.
• Perform Linux installations, configurations, upgrades and ongoing maintenance activities on bare metal hardware and virtual environments, installation of software releases, patches of the operation system and utilities, third-party products, and open-source software.
• Contributor to Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
• User Support / Problem resolution.
• Manage SaltStack infrastructure, distributing and enforcing standard configurations.

Linux Administrator Requirements:

• Hands-on experience in building Shell scripts for automation of systems monitoring.
• Demonstrated experience in handling day-to-day Linux operating system installation, migration, and break-fix support.
• Must be residing locally and work onsite minimum 3 days a week.
• Familiarity with distributed compute and storage systems, high-performance computing systems, and networking.
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts, large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed systems, and Linux environments.
• Ability and willingness to learn and promote best practices.
• Strong Hands-on experience in Linux (Ubuntu / Debian) Systems Administration.
• Advanced knowledge of and experience distributing and enforcing standard configurations using tools such as SaltStack, Puppet, Chef or Ansible.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Experience using Change/Incident Management tools (Jira).
• 2+ years experience in managing large scale Linux Desktop deployments in production environments.
