Job Description
Senior Graphic Designer POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Graphic Designer will generate designs and graphics for Heathwood's various departments, namely Marketing and Communications, Admission, Development, Athletics, and the four Divisions with the Mission and Vision of Heathwood Hall. A successful candidate will demonstrate the skill and seasoning to refine and elevate Heathwood's brand and help its stakeholders better represent its mission, values, and history. The Senior Graphic Designer will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The job start date is 6/1/23 at the latest. This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION Duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Creating and implementing designs and content for marketing and communications functions and Heathwood's various departments, divisions, and stakeholders Maintaining all brand assets, including logos, brand guidelines, libraries, videos, and fonts Working with the Director of Marketing and Communications to monitor brand usage and consistency Working with Heathwood's marketing and technology teams to manage creative assets on digital platforms Designing and laying out digital and print publications, including the State of the School and Highlander Magazine Managing the production of printed publications and marketing assets and interfacing with their vendors Assisting in video and photoshoot planning, storyboarding, and execution Creating display and video advertisements for printed publications and digital platforms Developing templates for stationery, presentations, and graphics Coordinating and communicating with departments on cross-departmental initiatives Developing and managing a job-request pipeline and strategies Assisting with the design and execution of Heathwood events Collaborating with vendors on design and asset production Assisting in planning and implementing various target marketing and research projects and interpreting results Providing information and insights regarding customers, markets, competitors, and campaign effectiveness to measure performance and support business decisions Researching and implementing the latest techniques, procedures, and best practices used in designs EXAMPLE GRAPHICS The Graphic Designer must demonstrate expertise in creating the following non-exhaustive list of graphics and assets: Banners Billboards Booklets Brand Books Brochures Business Cards Catalogs Clothing Dashboards Digital Signage Display Ads Field Marketing Assets Flyers Folders Gift Cards Graphics Infographics Invitations Letterhead Logos Magazines Maps Nameplates Newsletters Notecards Postcards Posters PowerPoint Presentations InDesign Presentations Print Ads Proposals Reports Social Media Stationery Stickers Storyboards Templates Tickets Video Content Video Ads White Papers GENERAL EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assume serious collaborative responsibility for the educational environment of the School by conducting yourself at all times in a responsible, ethical, and professional manner Maintain strong interpersonal communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators Assist with school functions/traditions that may sometimes extend beyond the normal hours of school Support the School's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and multicultural education SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS Leverage mastery of Canva and Adobe applications to create designs and content Understand basic technologies: iPad and iPhone apps, Google Suite, SeeSaw, email, photo editing, iMovie, etc. Demonstrate energy, empathy, a good sense of humor, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate Possess excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills Have the ability to lift 20 lbs. and move around campus throughout the day EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree Minimum of seven years of experience working in graphic design WORKING CONDITIONS Primarily indoors Outside travel between buildings is required multiple times per day The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time is required Occasional field trips Some evening and weekend commitments Heathwood Hall Episcopal School believes that each employee makes a significant contribution to its success, and that contribution should not be limited by the assigned responsibilities of the position.
