Senior Director – Digital and Technology Partners - PMO, Req# 2827350

This position requires onsite once per year and for any go-live support projects as required.

Summary

Responsible for successfully managing multiple complex projects that span across multiple entities and disciplines within the organization. Projects are expected to be managed simultaneously and include teams composed of the client, project managers, remote team members, multiple sites, new technology, etc. This may include the need to interact independently with all levels of management across the organization. Projects/Programs managed by this individual are often highly visible requiring strong facilitation and management skills as well as a firm understanding of organizational culture and business acumen. Also responsible for coaching and managing junior associates as well as participating in the coordination or oversight of specific project and transformation activities as assigned.

Project/Program Oversight

  • Resolve project conflicts
  • Track project progress with respect to time, budget and demonstrated results
  • Responsible for monitoring large scale projects, managing budgets and assigning roles and responsibilities to team members for various large scale programs
  • Communicate progress to top management
  • Negotiate with client, staff and outside vendors as required
  • Works in tandem with top management to achieve corporate objectives by directing and leading one or more project teams
  • Partner with other Sr Directors to develop business cases then, monitor & track results
  • Responsible for accumulating and disseminating PMO best practices
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling projects by performing the work to compare actual performance with planned performance
  • Provide best practice implementation guidance while having oversight of multiple projects and project managers from both a project and HR perspective
  • Responsible for ensuring strong stakeholder relationships, stakeholder engagement and overall satisfaction
  • Manage vendors for delivery and budget purposes
  • Lead and pursue targeted maturity level for resource and project management for the IT organization, designing project management and business analyst artifacts, guidelines, leading practices and frameworks in a decentralized environment
  • Drive resolution of project risk and issues and escalate as required
  • Develop Request for Proposals (RFP) or facilitate vendor selections
  • Manage project level reporting
  • Prepare and Monitor budgets
  • Review and evaluate project plans and objectives
  • Establishes quality and performance targets

Team Management

  • Facilitates healthy team dynamics
  • Prepares staff performance evaluations
  • Facilitates weekly team meetings to articulate deadlines, tasks, changes, and obtain status from individual players
  • Leads, direct and mentors Project Managers
  • Provides day to day direction and resolves issues within the team

Effective Communication

  • Transparency
  • Independently negotiate and define realistic expectations (internal and external) with project team and stakeholders
  • Ability to adjust delivery style depending on the receiving audience
  • Timely and effective escalation with attention paid to the sensitivity and political nature of the situation

  • Independently facilitate team discussions to arrive at estimated effort and duration

Project Management Coach/Manager

  • Assistance in the development and improvement of PMO tools, templates, and processes as needed
  • Promote an environment that encourages knowledge sharing
  • Coach and manage other project managers as assigned
  • Understands impact of his/her words or behaviors on others

Professional/Technical Skills

  • Proficient using Visio and other process documentation tools
  • Experience working in a formal PMO organization preferred
  • Proficient using MS Project or Workbench
  • Experience with Enterprise Project Management systems preferred

Education/Years of Experience Required

  • Experience in successfully coordinating with functional departments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/or Information Systems; Master’s preferred.
  • 15+ years direct work experience in an project management or director capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
  • Experience in managing direct reports
  • Experience in managing project managers in matrix organization

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $139,748.00 - $209,622.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
