Position Summary

The Sr. Curriculum Developer and Accessibility Lead is responsible for designing and developing new components of the Mental Health First Aid at Work curriculum as well as evaluating and making modifications to existing components. The person in this role should be passionate about developing innovative learning solutions that exceed the expectations of our members, clients, partners and participants.

In addition to standard curriculum development responsibilities, this role will have a specific focus on ensuring accessibility compliance for all MHFA curricula materials and learning systems.

This is an individual contributor role without any direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Review course materials to ensure that they meet accessibility compliance standards
  • Manage small- and large-scale instructional design projects
  • Design and develop learning material to be used in in-person, virtual and blended delivery models
  • Maintain awareness of learning and teaching best practices, as well as emerging educational technologies
  • Work with subject matter experts to assess the learning needs of a variety of audiences
  • Review course feedback and evaluations to identify and make necessary changes
  • Write instructional scenarios
  • Manage and fulfill timely accommodation requests and communications with instructors, learners and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to members of the Curricula Development and Learning Systems teams in the areas of web accessibility, accessible online education, and creating course materials and processes that meet accessibility standards
  • Track progress towards accessibility for all MHFA curricula and learning systems
  • Apply pedagogical principles and learning theories to create engaging course designs
  • Recommend and drive the implementation of adaptive technologies, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of instructional design experience
  • Experience developing eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise 360
  • Familiarity with principles of Universal Design for Learning
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations associated with ADA compliance, including sections 504 and 508, and accessibility considerations for online learning
  • Experience developing learning content for in-person, virtual and blended delivery models using sound principles of instructional design and project management
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technology products such as NVDA, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Kurzweil, ReadSpeaker, and others
  • Expertise in conducting audience analyses and creating or modifying learning content and approaches to meet identified needs
  • Skilled at designing learning materials using Adobe InDesign
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts to make course materials accessible

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in mental or behavioral health
  • Fluent in Spanish, Korean, Khmer, or Chinese
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational/Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Learning Design/Experience, or comparable field of study

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technically proficient and able to navigate new learning technologies as needed
  • Proficient using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Results-oriented with a very high attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
