Senior Bi Developer (Remote)

Position Purpose:

The Sr. Business Intelligence Developer analyzes large data sets to uncover meaningful insights that drive business decisions for the Customer Experience organization at The Home Depot. This role will design, develop, and implement metrics, reports, and dashboards to assist data-driven decisions. Further responsibilities include determining and implementing the visuals that will provide the best insights to support business decisions. The ability to translate business needs into technical specifications for building BI solutions is a must. In response to the strategy of the BI team and Online leaders, this role supports the maintenance of the data warehouse, designs and performs QA, and provides ad-hoc reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• 25% Research and document best practices and standards for using our BI tools. Provide insight on industry trends
• 25% Partner with leaders to identify needs and gather requirements. Provide solutions by building tools, reports and predictive models. Automate reporting as needed
• 50% Design and develop robust, user friendly applications, reports and dashboards using BI tools like Microstrategy and SAS

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

• Position reports to Sr Manager or Manager, Online Business Intelligence.
• Position has no direct reports.

Travel Requirements:

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in creating the process and performing QA based on project needs
• Prior experience in maintaining data analytics platforms
• Prior retail industry experience is preferred
• Strong knowledge of Python
• Expert in SQL (preferably BigQuery)
• Ability to Strategically determine the type of visuals that are best suited for each situation
• Demonstrates strong ability in translating business needs into technical specifications towards building BI solutions
• Expert in visualization tools (Tableau is a must, knowledge of other tools such as D3.js, Recharts, Victory, and other JavaSript Data Graph Visualization Libraries is preferable)
