Machine Bio is seeking passionate and qualified individuals to assist in the R&D efforts supporting our core platform technology. The applicant will be working closely with the founding team and the scientific team to manage and execute the research process. Ideal candidates will have experience with research execution in a lab setting, protein expression and scientific management. A strong background in bioprocessing and/or the early development of novel biotechnology is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Will lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, or interns.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Interested in engaging in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Applies an analytical approach to the solution of a wide variety of problems, or applies specialized techniques/ingenuity in selecting and evaluating approaches to unforeseen or novel problems.
• Plans, coordinates, and conducts scientific research requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard scientific techniques.
• Independently performs most research assignments with instructions as to the general results expected; receives guidance on unusual or complex problems.
• Demonstrates and applies thorough understanding of scientific methods, research protocols, assessment instruments, and data interpretation.
• Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
• Serves as principal investigator, as appropriate, on sub-projects of complexities consistent with above criteria.
• Collects, analyzes, and interprets data; prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs, as appropriate to the specific position; prepares manuscripts for publication; presents research results to scientific conferences and other groups.
• Designs, performs, and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, minimum 6 years of experience, Master’s Degree, minimum 4 years of experience in the same field/Ph.D., minimum 2 years of experience in the same field.
• Has experience leading teams.
• Has experience conceptualizing potential solutions and designing experiments all the way through to experimental execution, data analysis and further iteration to support product development.
• Has 3+ years experience as a Scientist 1 or equivalent role.

Preference:

• Expertise in Cell-Free Protein Expression Systems, Supported Lipid Bilayers, Liposomes, Molecular Biology, Protein Expression

Salary expectations:

Machine Bio organizational structure

RA (62,500 -70,000) + equity

SRA (70,000-80,000) + equity

S1 (80,000- 100,000) + equity

S2 (100,000 - 120,000) + equity

SS1 (120,000 - 150,000) + equity
