The Science Writer writes and edits articles and collateral materials that highlight and promote the Hospital’s research and clinical innovation.
This Science Writer will:
Manuscripts
- Format references.
- Obtain copyright transfer agreement.
- Write permission letters when necessary.
- Format final manuscript and figures to specific journal requirements
- Edit and proofread manuscripts
Books
- Correspond with book contributors.
- Assist book editors in writing front matter (preface, acknowledgments).
- Correspond with the publisher regarding manuscript progress reports.
- Assist book editors in developing book outlines.
- Supervise sending of the final manuscript and figures to the publisher.
- Edit contributors’ manuscripts; ensures consistency among chapters.
To qualify, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in English or in a closely related field and 4 years of experience in science and medical writing (or equivalent experience in directly related work in a health care setting).
- A broad range of skills in writing and in coordinating writing projects.
