Job Description
The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
Key Functions
  • Operations Management 25%
  • Produces reports for individuals, the department, the division, or the institution to support decision making and analyze outcomes.
  • In collaboration with the Director, EDI directs the development of both long and short-term strategic business plans for assigned area.
  • Serves as liaison between program(s) and the institution's department's/ divisions, and external collaborators in support of education science program and education development initiatives.
  • Convenes, organizes, assesses and staffs steering committees, advisory committees, and all sub-committees that are part of the program.
  • Collaborates to create, maintain, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of the program goals, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Education Science and Development 75%
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders/collaborators to design engaging and effective instructional materials and programs.
  • Serve as co-director and oversee the Health Educator's Fellowship Program for MD Anderson. Collaborate with external faculty for student recruitment, development, and fellowship implementation.
  • Serves as a central point of reference for developing curricula, creating synergy between and among faculty, trainees and healthcare professionals related to desired education science and faculty development outcomes.
  • Maintain ongoing and open communication with collaborating customers and consumers of clinical education.
  • Provide training for faculty and educators in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of educational initiatives to meet and measure learner outcomes.
  • Collaborate with external faculty to implement the regional conference, including conference planning and reviewing abstracts.
  • Prepares and delivers formal presentations both locally and nationally.
  • Develops instructional plans for adult learners utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and styles for guiding, motivating, and directing individuals under various situational conditions to achieve effective performance and evaluation of learner outcomes.
  • Independently analyze training requests, researching and recommending appropriate training solutions, designs and delivery strategies ensuring alignment of training solution with other learning initiatives and business plans.
  • Participate in research related to healthcare/medical education.
  • Serve on the annual TEACH-S Symposium planning committee representing MD Anderson


Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, healthcare administration or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Education or related field
Experience
Required: Five years project/program management experience to include three years supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
