ALTA VISTA INNOVATION HIGH SCHOOL

Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Compensation: $90,100/year - $111,300/year

POSITION SUMMARY:

The School Social Work Program Specialist will assist in School Social Work professional development, involvement in high profile cases, and School Social Work staff training and support. This position will provide leadership, guidance and coaching in the implementation of the regional MTSS framework. The School Social Work Program Specialist will collaborate with school staff and various internal and external partners to meet program goals and standards, program compliance and reporting, and to ensure students access resources and benefits to support their academic success. Specialist will also serve as the field supervisor for university level social work interns, adhering to the requirements of the L4L social work program and university standards. This position reports to the Area Superintendent or Designee.


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Participate in student support services staff development, program development, and innovation of special methods and approaches.
  • Provide recommendations, guidance, and support on the use of healing centered practices and evidence-based interventions.
  • Collaborate with local community resources to create opportunities to help staff/students/families understand factors that affect school attendance and the social and emotional needs of students of culturally diverse student populations.
  • Assist site level School Social Workers and Social Work Interns through supporting, training and coaching of program best practices.
  • Make recommendations relative to the selection of new staff and placement of school social work personnel including social work interns.
  • Knowledgeable about local and organizational policy, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable professional in the scope of School Social Work, assessing factors that may affect a student’s learning at home, school, personal, and the community.
  • Active participation and collaboration in Regional Leadership.
  • Monitor Program progress; implement measures to improve/enhance instructional services to students.
  • Provide management with statistical and project/program progress reports.
  • Develop data collection systems, monitors data collection and provides programmatic recommendation based upon results.
  • Directly supervise interns in their fieldwork, overseeing the entire range of field experiences including ensuring activities are meeting field education objectives.
  • Provides direct service and consultation during threat assessment/management, crisis response, recovery and renewal.
  • Comply with university supervision standards and complete all university required documentation and evaluations each semester.
  • Collaborate with Regional Leadership on to identify, select, and implement evidence-based social emotional learning (SEL) services and curriculum in alignment with current school climate trends.


QUALIFICATIONS


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the policies and state laws that surround education and the underserved populations
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed culturally appropriate interventions for children, youth, and families that can best help them to achieve educational goals
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work with various levels of employees and management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in using student information data systems
  • Valid California Pupil Personnel Credential in School Social Work required
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work required
  • Leadership experience performing School Social Worker duties in a school environment required
  • Experience with Charter schools and Independent Study settings preferred
  • Able to travel in performance of job duties is required
  • 2 years of successful, full-time employment in assignment (s) requiring a Standard Pupil Services Credential authorizing service in social work required
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds of force (almost all office jobs) occasionally
  • Valid California Pupil Personnel Credential in Child Welfare and Attendance required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
  • Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.
  • Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination, high people engagement.
  • Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
