Under general supervision performs professional nursing provides nursing, immunization, and student health services to rural schools within the County; performs related work as assigned.
Please Note:
This position is a limited appointment position and funded through the ADE Nursing Grant and is funded through September 30, 2024.
This position is open until filled with review of applications starting on March 10, 2023.
The salary range for this position is $61,568 - $89,565.
These positions are located in Yavapai County. The ideal candidate will be able to serve schools in Yavapai county on a daily basis.

Typical Duties

(Illustrative only)

  • Provides education to student and staff regarding health and safety topics
  • Coordinates medical care utilizing community resources
  • Performs physical and mental health assessments and state mandated screenings
  • Educates and counsels school administrators for student health procedures
  • Administers first aid, medication, and specialized medical treatment for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children
  • Reviews and evaluates current school health needs
  • Assesses situations involving student’s safety, abuse (physical, sexual, drug) and other health related issues for the purpose of identifying problems, referring for proper treatment and complying with legal requirements
  • Responsible for health records management
  • Administers vaccines to students following Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines
  • Analyzes immunization records for state mandated compliance
  • Participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings for students with special health care needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Consults and counsels’ families, school staff and medical providers regarding specific health needs of students
  • Manages vaccine storage in compliance with Federal Vaccine for Children Program
  • Compiles statistics for Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) reports
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: driving; working with and around others; vision acuity (near) for client physical assessment; vision acuity (far) and color vision for driving; communicating with staff, clients, etc. Traveling to outlying areas in the county, possibly outside of normal business hours as well as walking and standing for long periods of time in all types of weather.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and three years of clinical nursing experience; OR any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a current Arizona RN license, a current CPR certification. Must obtain an Arizona driver’s license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

This position is safety sensitive.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
