Job Description
Overview:
Salem Media Group, publicly traded (SALM), offers an exceptional opportunity for a strong sales and use tax professional for our beautiful office in Camarillo, CA. ** Could be remote for the right person if not local

We are looking for a senior tax professional to join our Tax Department who will be responsible for the companies' sales & use tax and personal property tax filings. This position requires a working knowledge of sales and use tax principles; month-end close and reconciliations, strong organizational skills; effective collaboration and communication; and efficient execution.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor sales & use tax technical developments
  • Responsible for filing transaction tax returns in all jurisdictions in which our companies operate
  • Assist in managing sales & use tax audits
  • Identify, research and maintain technology solutions (currently using Avalara)
  • Collaborate proactively with other departments to ensure proper sales & use tax and asset management treatment on invoices
  • Month-end financial close, including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts and assisting with the year-end audit process
Qualifications:
  • Ability to adapt to change, think strategically, deliver results and engage and influence others
  • Research sales & use tax matters and make informed recommendations
  • CPA is a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
  • Apply technical expertise in sales & use tax
  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Finance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 4 to 6 years of experience
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Avalara (AvaTax) is a big plus
  • Prioritize multiple tasks/projects, while also completing regular responsibilities, working effectively, independently and in a team environment
