Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is the responsibility for all Safety Management and Environmental Management / Compliance matters at a Distribution Center. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Corporate Rite Aid brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes. Frequent independent judgments are essential.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:


  • Prepare safety policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state and Federal OSHA, EPA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain and report safety statistics and workers compensation information.
  • Provide safety related training and awareness programs to appropriate personnel in response to regulatory requirements and/or in response to trends in safety and accident metrics.
  • Working knowledge and turnkey management of environmental matters including Regulate Waste: Storm Water, Air Emissions.
  • Respond to and investigate all safety, workers' compensation, health, and environmental issues or violations to ensure proper resolution and follow-up.
  • Partner with leadership and managers to assess work place safety needs, create action plans, and make recommendations to the General Manager on corrective measures.
  • Establish effective safety awareness programs for a zero accident culture.
  • Interact with OSHA, Fire Departments, (EPA if applicable), and other relevant agencies while supervisions inspections and providing responses.
  • Maintain all safety and environmental files to 100% regulatory agency compliance including OSHA Logs, SDS, FDA, EPA and related technical documentation.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled work-site and facilities inspections to ensure safe practices to include complaiance responsibilities related to manufacturing standards and safe working conditions.


Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations


  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Driver’s license for business travel, or other reason.
  • OSHA 30-hour Course or Equivalent.


Required Education And/or Experience


  • 2 years of experience in Safety and EPA required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Safety Management required.
