The Construction QS will be responsible for all earned value management and analysis during project execution stages including, but not limited to, progress measurement, change analysis, expenditure reporting, performance reporting, benchmarking, vendor performance scorecards, and interactions with the following teams: Projects Planning/Execution teams, Cost Engineering/Control teams, engineering contractors, Procurement. This position is based out of Toledo, OH.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Catalog data for project lifecycle usage (benchmarking, vendor evaluation, etc.).
  • Identify project staffing gaps and report to PM.
  • Collect and report engineering status with regards to actual expenditure, planned progress, actual progress, change orders, and forecasts (ETC and EAC).
  • Review and evaluate engineering vendor proposals against historical cost data.
  • Periodically evaluate reported progress using rules of credit.
  • Travel to engineering vendor offices to provide owner representation in progress reviews and audits.
  • Represent owner in project initiation planning prior to entering execute stages to determine engineering deliverables, rules of credit for progressing, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare engineering schedule baselines and capture baselines to form vendor commitments.
  • Generate EV reports at project and portfolio level.
  • Provide mentoring to project teams on engineering EV best practices.
  • Evaluate vendor reported progress and expenditures for validity and accuracy.
  • Review validity of forecasted schedule completion and budgets. Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related field, or 8 years of relevant construction experience, or alternatively 8+ years proven experience directly in Project Controls.
  • Certification with AACE, PMI or CMAA is preferred.
  • Must be highly articulate, have clear and logical approach to problem solving, and strong choice-making abilities. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with progress measurement tools (Cobra, Prism, etc.) and experience with quantity takeoff tools (CAD).
  • Knowledge of and experience with stage-gated project execution processes.
  • Knowledge of EVM (Construction).
  • Familiar with finance and cost management software with good understanding of P6 software.
  • Understanding of Front End Loading concepts, engineering, and project development.
  • Strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project controls systems.
  • Knowledge of database applications, e.g., MS access, and MS Excel (pivot tables, macros, and spreadsheets).
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects of various sizes and complexity.
