Job Summary And Qualifications

• Provide supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse assistants, student nurses, nurse externs/interns
• Promote an environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture
• Performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act
• The essential functions of the Registered Nurse position include:
• Use therapeutic communication in daily practice
• Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding healthcare
• Delegate tasks to the appropriate level of staff
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
• Proactively advocate for patients and consistently education patients/families throughout the continuum of care
• Maintain quality, age specific care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients as assigned
• Plan, implement and direct care using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of the individual patient

Education/Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required (Associate Degree)

• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Must be a team player and embrace the Medical City McKinney ALWAYS values
• Current RN licensure by the State of Texas or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence required
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS required
• LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
• NRP required within 90 days of hire/transfer
• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Nursery nursing experience Required
• STABLE required within 18 months of hire. There is no requirement for renewal.
• Satisfactory completion of initial core and unit competencies required
• Must maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor and appearance
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Must support family centered maternity care
• STABLE must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
