Rides Maintenance Manager

About us...

LEGOLAND Florida Resort is a 150-acre interactive theme park dedicated to families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. With more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions, and uniquely themed LEGOLAND Water Park, LEGOLAND Hotel, and LEGOLAND Beach Resort inspired by the LEGO and DUPLO brands, LEGOLAND is geared towards family fun!

About the role...

Responsible for, but not limited to the efficient management of the Rides and Attractions Maintenance Department, related activities, and daily, preventative, and scheduled maintenance and repairs of all rides, attractions, water features, buildings, animation, and special effects in compliance with related policies, procedures, regulations and/or legislation.

What you’ll be doing...

Keeps both guest and employee safety as the #1 priority. Accountable for proactively maintaining a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for resort guests and employees utilizing resources from ASTM, local, state, and regional resources, and Security/Profit Protection.

The development and implementation of the annual maintenance, operating and labor budget and working within that budget.

Establishes departmental procedures to include work order system, preventative maintenance program, attraction documentation procedures, stockroom system, staff training procedures and departmental policies.

Establishes departmental procedures and coordination guidelines with attractions operations for attraction sign over, down calls and documentation, and ride shut down.

Ensures adherence to Merlin, LEGOLAND, and departmental policies and procedures, effectively managing and documenting employee relations.

Supervise 5 Supervisors and approximately 30 ride maintenance technicians maintaining the operational integrity for all rides and attractions.

Creates a work environment that will be productive, challenging and professionally satisfying for employees within the department.

Functions as a stakeholder in terms of climate survey results and implements an action plan to improve YOY with monthly reviews.
Establishes long and short-range departmental goals. Sets clear and reasonable goals for the department and provides the necessary tools to reach these goals.

Prepares yearly budgets and constantly monitors the budget for maximum efficiency and cost savings without compromising guest and employee safety and experience.
Designs and expands as required a comprehensive training system geared to meet LEGOLAND Florida maintenance requirements.
Keeps informed of different management techniques and technical methods by attending supplemental courses, seminars, conventions, etc.

Keeps up to date of government, state and local regulations including OSHA, ASTM, and other relevant codes and regulatory issues and ensures continued compliance within the department.

Is responsible for hiring, training, development, performance management, team building, and other culture and people management activities. Formally reviews supervisors and employees regarding job performance and discusses the review with the employee on a regular basis. Development and implementation of departmental documentation procedures.

Conducts weekly staff meetings for the purpose of directing, informing, training and motivating maintenance employees.

Development and implementation of departmental training program for all rides and attractions to ensure a positive guest experience through a safe, clean and efficient resort.

Remains current on all ride and attraction systems.

Reviews and schedules planned major repairs and rehabilitation. Provides input to ride and attraction assignments.

Reviews all labor scheduling with supervision.

Who we’re looking for...

A minimum of ten (10) years maintenance experience in a mechanical field as a journeyman is required. A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience is required. Building maintenance experience is required. The ability to read blueprints pertaining to rides, attractions, and buildings. Thorough understanding of utilities, mechanical and basic electrical maintenance requirements of all rides and equipment, including high-volume submersible and turbine-types water pumps is required. Extensive knowledge in preventive maintenance systems is required. The ability to walk into a situation, inspect and check work performed by others, and decide that the attraction is safe to reopen, keeping safety in mind as the top priority is required. Demonstrated ability to delegate responsibilities clearly, concisely and streamline the flow of communication and operational processes within teams. Ability to react under pressure and in emergency situations in a calm, rational manner is required. The ability to read and evaluate reports, correspondence and use basic math. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and focus on quality of service is required. The ability to observe and remember details. The ability to effectively follow and give directions. Effective decision-making skills are required. Requires considerable knowledge of different tools and equipment used to repair and maintain rides and other mechanical equipment.
Education:

4-year technical degree in a mechanical/electrical field (or equivalent education and experience) is required.
Physical Demands:

Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel, and drive.

Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the Resort site and interact with employees.

Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.

Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.

Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:

Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.

Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

Comfortable working at various degree of heights.
Other Job Requirements:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends to support Resort operations.

Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.

Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $87,000 - $110,000 depending on experience.
