Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Revenue Cycle Management: Develop and implement strategies to optimize the revenue cycle processes, including billing, coding, claims submission, payment posting, and collections.
  2. Financial Analysis: Analyze revenue cycle metrics and financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
  3. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as HIPAA and coding guidelines. Stay updated on industry changes and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  4. Team Management: Supervise and provide guidance to the revenue cycle team, including hiring, training, performance management, and fostering a positive work environment.
  5. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in revenue cycle processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness. Streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks.
  6. Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including physicians, administrators, and billing staff, to optimize revenue cycle operations. Establish and maintain relationships with payers and third-party vendors.
  7. Denial Management: Develop strategies to minimize claim denials and resolve denied claims. Work closely with billing staff to address coding and documentation issues affecting claim reimbursement.
  8. Technology Utilization: Evaluate, implement, and optimize revenue cycle software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.


Qualifications

  1. Education: A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, business administration, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees, such as an MBA or MHA, can be beneficial.
  2. Experience: Several years of experience in revenue cycle management, preferably in a healthcare setting, with a proven track record of success in optimizing revenue cycle operations.
  3. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of healthcare billing, coding, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle best practices. Familiarity with relevant regulations, such as HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
  4. Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management abilities to effectively lead a team, set goals, and drive results. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, financial reporting, and utilizing revenue cycle metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Experience with revenue cycle software and tools.
  6. Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of healthcare industry trends, regulations, and reimbursement models. Awareness of emerging technologies and their potential impact on revenue cycle management.
  7. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing healthcare regulations, policies, and technologies. Flexibility to handle a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  8. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis, coding, and documentation processes. Knowledge of coding systems such as CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
